Súria and Cardona! 2 cities in one day!
Súria: pleasant and simple town in one of the regions with the greatest historical weight in Catalonia.
the Medieval Market , held the first days of November, where we can remember the ancient trades and relive the activity in the streets of the town as many and many years ago.
Travel to the Middle Ages in Cardona , a charming town. This town of Bages boasts a monumental castle, a medieval historic center and a unique salt mountain in the world.
Cardona has two secrets that are not tiny at all. At the top of the town, the castle that guards it; in the bowels of the earth, the inexhaustible charm of potassium salt, which continues to emerge from its now extinct mines and rises to the surface forming a 120 meter high mountain, a unique geological phenomenon on the planet. This saline diapir of more than 40 million years was a source of wealth in the Middle Ages for the Dukes of Cardona who, from the fortress, controlled with an iron fist the hidden treasure that continues to surprise us today.
Súria, name derived from the Roman toponym Sorisa (White). Named for its salt mines that are famous throughout the Bages region (Barcelona), along with those of Cardona, which were the source of wealth and development in the area and the cause of many armed conflicts in the area.
Located in the valley of the Cardener river, which crosses the town dividing it into two populous neighborhoods, whose margins offer beautiful views.
Its steep streets that rise towards the old town and are drawing the layout towards the hill where the architectural jewels of the municipality are located.
